FAQ's
How do I get the 11 cents per slide deal? In order to get the 11 cents per slide, the slides must be delivered to us in a Kodak Carousel, the slides must be properly oriented in landscape position, they must move up/down freely in the tray and you must be willing to download the slides from our website. Additional charges are incurred if we need to do anything with the tray beyond loading it into our transfer equipment.
What is "landscape" position or orientation? Standard 35mm Kodak slides are rectangular in shape with the long edge of the rectangle running parallel with the horizon - this is refered to as landscape orientation. When the slide is oriented such that the long edge of the rectangle is perpendicular to the horizon it is in "portrait" orientation. Our camera photographs only in landscape orientation, thus if a slide is in the tray in portrait position, the slide will be cropped on the top and bottom and the final image will also have black bars running along the right and left side of the slide. What if my slides aren't 35mm Kodak or aren't rectangular in shape? We can still transfer your slides if they fit into a standard Kodak Carousel tray. If the slides are square in shape they will be cropped on the top and bottom. For square shaped slides, it may be better to have them scanned via a standard flatbed scanner. Our partner, DVD Reflections can assist in performing this service. What's the difference between a transfer and a scan? A scan refers to the process where a slide scanner or other flatbed scanner is used. A slide transfer is essentially a digital photographic process; that is, a projector is used to project the slide into a lense system and a high quality digital camera is used to photograph the slide image. |
